People I Admire

Hello everyone!

Today I thought that I would write a little bit about a few great people I admire. These people are working/worked to make a difference in the world, and work/worked hard to make their voices heard. Here they are in no particular order:

  1. Malala Yousafzai

Malala stood up for education but unfortunately this made the Taliban target her. She was shot in the head, and was very close to dying but thankfully made a very miraculous recovery. At sixteen, she was the youngest nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. She also has her own biographical film and book. My uncle gave me a copy of her book, and after reading some of it I looked up to Malala all the more.

 2.Emma Watson

She is widely known for starring in the Harry Potter films, but she is also part of the He For She campaign. She speaks about gender equality around the world and how we should make a difference ourselves.

3. The Late Nelson Mandela

He was the first black President of South Africa. After having spent 27 years in prison for trying to overthrow the pro-apartheid government, he worked hard in favour of human rights.

4. J. K. Rowling

Not only did she write some of the greatest stories of all time, but she is also comparing Donald Trump to none other than Lord Voldemort (the villain in the Harry Potter series) on Twitter. Since I am strongly against Trump’s opinions, I was really pleased to see Rowling get at Trump after him ranting on against refugees.151208c-jk-rowling[1]

Thank you!

  1. I admire teens who are interested in the world outside their own existence, who have strong opinions and who aren’t afraid to take a stand – just like Malala, in fact.

  2. Unfortunately it is always the bad guys that get the widest media coverage. People are apt to forget, or are even unaware of, the great many individuals striving to bring about a better world, often at considerable personal sacrifice. Thank you for flying the flag for the good guys.
